Sale Price:$649.00 Original Price:$849.00

Join us for two days of continuing education! This is meant for people who have taken a yoga teacher training but still don’t feel confident in their teaching. During these two days, we will aim to refine your understanding of anatomy and sequencing, build your confidence in hands-on assists and adjustments, address common postural issues and sequencing that helps, and do an intro to yoga for seniors and how to work with seniors.

What will be included?

  • Anatomy Refresher and Sequencing Crash Course: We’ll go over anatomy basics including the different types of joints in the body and how they’re designed to move, the muscles in the body and how they interact with other muscles in the body, different types and qualities of stretching, the bones and all the surrounding musculature and things we should be mindful of when teaching different types of bodies. From there, we can begin to intelligently sequence vinyasa flows. The sequencing section will focus on a general vinyasa style class and how to intelligently plan your yoga class flows.

  • Hands on Adjustments and Assists: In this section, we’ll go over common yoga poses and how to confidently adjust or assist in the posture. We’ll practice on one another for each, including an in-depth run down of savanna assists.

  • Common Postural Issues and Sequencing to Help: In this section, we’ll address common postural issues including forward head position, rounded shoulders, hyperextended hamstrings, anterior pelvic tilt, and underdeveloped core. Then we’ll learn moves and flows to improve upon these issues.

  • Intro to yoga for seniors and working with seniors: In this section, we will explore the value of yoga and resistance training for seniors, learn the various ways we can work with seniors to help improve their balance, coordination, muscle tone and movement patterns in a safe and effective way. We’ll go over strategies for working with seniors, and we may have a special guest or two join us :)

Logistics:

Where to fly into: The closest airport to Ridgefield is Westchester County Airport, about 35 minutes away - but it’s small, so it may be expensive to fly into. Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT, JFK Airport and La Guardia in NYC are all about an hour and a half or so away. As a last resort, Newark Airport in New Jersey is about two hours away as well.

Where to stay: There are a few options for this little trip. West Lane Inn is about five minutes away, and a great little spot to explore the town of Ridgefield because it’s walking distance to lots of cute shops and restaurants. Hotel Zero Degrees is in the next town over, about 12 minutes away from the studio. If you’re flying in, it is advisable to rent a car, as Ubers are pretty limited in the area.

We accept no liability for loss, damage, injury or illness, which may occur during the workshop or traveling to or from the workshop. Alternative arrangements are offered to the best of our ability but if not taken up, we do not accept responsibility for any costs incurred, including airfare. We take every step to ensure that students are not stretched beyond the limit of their capabilities. We ask that you speak up if you have any particular pre-existing injury or illness that is relevant. We advise that you always listen to your body, and if you are feeling any pain or illness during the class that you stop and rest.
